Home visiting doctors

Picture
Doctors who do home visiting seems like a blast from the past.  Surprisingly visiting doctors have joined visiting nurses in many settings.  Some physicians are part of a discharge planning team in a hospital setting, which may have a home care agency.  Others are just independent doctors who decided to forego the cost of office and staff, preferring the old fashioned home visiting.  Either way it is personalized care in the home of the elder.  Most physicians are Medicare participating providers, but check with the doctor before the house call to confirm that they accept your insurance coverage for payment in full.  If there is a co-payment, find that out before the appointment as well.  The visiting doctor will review the medical history and come up with a treatment plan at home.  This doctor can oversee all aspect of the patient's care, including Blood work, Medication management and refills, and even X-rays done in the home.  There are referrals made to other providers and services as needed. There is no waiting in a medical office and no traveling to appointments.  For more information Ask Holly on the Contact Us page.
